Everyone has missed or will miss the school Valentine's Day party. How are we handling this?

I am glaring at my super-size jar of pink and red sprinkles, finding them worthless to me. No seriously, should we just send our kids to school on Tues. with a backpack full of Valentine's cards, or will we skip it this year?

Skip it this year??? Settle down Scrooge. It isn't until Sunday. I'm sure teachers will just switch the party till Tuesday. No biggy.

I already told my kids that unless we hear otherwise from the school, there won't be a valentine's party. Same thing happened at Christmas - snow cancelled the party - and there was no make up party. We'll save the valentines for next year and do something at home to celebrate.

Making V-Day cards for classmates has been one of my daughter's snow week projects. So when they go back Tuesday (please let them go back Tuesday!), she can distribute the Valentines. I hope the party gets rescheduled.

I still plan to send my DD to preschool with her Valentines even though the party was supposed to do and who knows if it will be rescheduled. She can still pass out her Valentines to all her friends without there being a party!

DH is a teacher. He was debating this very thought last night. Like a PP, the winter party got cancelled too. He would feel bad cancelling, but the kids have some major catch up to do for SOLs and such and if they have a party with lots of sugary treats, the kids will be off the hook. I suggested they exchange valentines but save the party for right before spring break when the kids will be checked out mentally anyhow. Not sure what he's going to do. Suggestions from other parents?

Why is this a big issue?

I'm sure my kid will miss V-Day, too.

Save the cards for next year, PPs!

Send the Valentine's cards in with your kids when they go back to school. That is what we are doing.

14:14 here. The Valentine's parties will probably be rescheduled for sometime this week. It's not the same as the winter parties that were missed because there was like a week and a half off after school was cancelled then.

Our preschool is having an exchange on the first day we get back (whenever that is!). I'll send in my elementary schooler's valentines as well, whether there's a party or not.

Ours has been rescheduled for Friday. No biggie, the kids don't care about the exact date.

We are not handling this. We don't care. Thank goodness I have boys!

My boy was quite disappointed to miss it on Friday - he is 4.5, remembered last year's party and was looking forward to making cards and cookies and giving them to everyone... I told him we would do those things as a family on Sunday, even if the school could not reschedule the party.

my son's winter holiday party was being rescheduled for today as a Valentine's Day combo... the room mother re-scheduled it for next Friday - either 3rd time is a charm or we will get another snow day on 2/19! We will send in Valentine's Day cards on Tuesday.... I figure both my kids will do some type of celebration...
