Actually, that's smart. I don't know but seems likely, since the gas fuels the flame and electricity is usually just for the ignition.

As a test, you could try turning it on then flipping off just the one fuse that supplies electricity to that part of your house.

Keep in mind that the fan will stop working, though, so you won't get too much heat from it.

Check to see if there is a batter backup for the igniter. Ours seems to have one. Do you have the owners' manual?

OP here. Vent is clear - I think it is too hot for snow to stick. I hadn't thought about the fan not working though. There goes my brilliant plan!
