there are a bunch of birds flying around like crazy outside my window. they must be so confused....i can't watch. |
The effect on our urban wildlife (welcome and unwelcome) is hard to acknowledge to DC. |
The effect on housewives (urban and suburban) is hard to define. |
Hahaha, I love you, OP. I know your post was serious, but it made me laugh. Poor birds, indeed.
(Except for the a-hole mockingbirds who harassed me and my cat for 3 months last summer, making it unbearable for us to enjoy sitting outside. I am seriously considering buying half a dozen fake owls to try to deter them from nesting in my yard again this year. Anyone know if that would actually work?) |
I think the birds are fine. |
What about homeless people? How are they feeling right now? |
Poor homeless people. |
and lost animals : ( |
Actually, they will be finding it hard to get food. We left some food out for them over the last few days and we've had some come to eat it. I heard some advice to clear a grassed area of snow so the birds can find seeds and things to eat. |
Why not open up a dialogue with the poor birds rather than assuming you feel their pain? Ask them if they might be interested in delivering your WaPo for premium seed? Be open minded and less judgemental-maybe they LIKE flying into your window over and over again, maybe it's part of some strange mating ritual like showing which males can take the most abuse? I think you are just jealous because they obviously work outside of the home. |
lololololol |
Best post ever. |
Thank you. I guess you can tell I've been stuck in the house a little too long and on DCUM a little too much. Cheers! |
Hi ZMom, wanted to tell you the story thread is toooooo much fun and I'm having a great time over there but didn't want to comment there for the sake of continuity. Whenever I hear a story about lemons I think about you drinking a big, cool, tall sugar-rimmed glass of freshly sqeezed lemonade with lots of sugar and a little rum. And that glass is way more then half-full. Cheers. |
