how long do you think the kids will be out of school?

Alexandria and Fairfax in particular. We have a toddler whose daycare follows their schedule. We are new to the area and school closings here.

Considering there are neighborhoods in Fairfax county which have yet to be plowed, we are not going to school before Monday.

PG County is already declared off for the week. (Friday was a scheduled professional day for teachers.)

The more interesting question at this point is HOW FAR INTO JULY WILL THE SCHOOL YEAR EXTEND???

Assuming FCPS is off the rest of the week, and they follow their published make up schedule, they will go until June 24 (two days longer). This includes going to school on 2 previously scheduled days off (Feb. 15 and April 12). If there is more snow later (heaven help us all!!!!) who know what they will do.

In 2003 they ended up extending the school year AND extending the school day for part of the year.
