There was so much uncertainty in the spring and summer. I now feel more comfortable with covid and our new normal. We stay away from people, always wear masks (both inside and outside unless we are alone).
I know families who had beach houses all went over the summer. We rented a few houses and social distanced (Outer Banks and SC). Now I am considering renting a house in a low key area in Florida. I have no idea where, somewhere with lowish covid cases. Is anyone planning to go south for the winter? I have 1 kid in preschool and 2 kids in elementary. Elementary kids are doing virtual school and preschooler is in person but I don’t care about pulling her out for a month or 2 or 3. |
We are planning to go to Tucson, Arizona for the winter! Can’t wait! |
I love Arizona. Are you flying? |
Yes we are ![]() |
No. The governance in the south re covid is poor. Many people do not wear masks etc. And their hospitals are not as good and they don’t have enough beds for their current population. I feel much safer in the dc area.
Please don’t do this. It’s not good for the local communities. |
I live in Tucson!! good choice- winter here is perfect! |
You can’t paint all of “the south” with such a broad brush. In tucson (a blue city in a red state), mask compliance has been very good and cases are very low. |
Our principal is withdrawing students who are moving away, even temporarily. |
I went to undergrad in Tucson. Best place on earth to spend winter. |
We are considering moving to Ireland for 3 months |
How would they know? |
We're considering Europe for 2 - 3 months. Dual passports. |
I wouldn’t for the reasons mentioned above, but especially not Florida. DeSantis is a moron. Maybe AZ, but I’m not sure.
I’d also be worried about being away from doctors who know my family during a pandemic. If we need treatment, Covid or non Covid related, I’d want access to someone who knows my family’s history. |
Thank you. Really silly post. |
