Hard to get nine week old to sleep in the early night, anyone BTDT? So we try to put her down around seven or 730, but the only way we can get her to sleep the first stretch is to be worn in the carrier until around 1030 or 11. Then I feed her, and she will go down outside of the carrier, whether it is the swing or this bassinet thing we have. However, she absolutely refuses to start the first part of the night anywhere else. The swing does not work for her in the early part of the night, only the later parts of the night or for naps.We also tried the snoo, and that was a big fail for any part of the night!
It’s like she wants to sleep on one of us for the first leg, and her sleep is usually more shallow then, and then when she is tired enough later at night she will accept some thing else. Is this just a baby being a baby? We plan to sleep train around 16 weeks, if anyone has any experience to share would love to hear them. She definitely prefers the carrier for naps, Will also nap in the swing or the stroller. Basically she is a motion junkie who likes to be bounced a lot. She also has reflux, so I think the carrier helps in the early evening when she is kind of unsettled and then my husband can preemptively bouncer when he senses that she is Unsettling a little bit. |
Normal, she's still developing a circadian rhythm and probably just isn't ready for her big stretch at 9. Just hang in there a few more weeks. Do you have blackout curtains? What time does she wake up? |
We wake her at 7 or730 |
Mine didn't fall asleep before 10 until 4 or 5 months. Attempts to put him down earlier were utter failures. |
Do you feed her before you try putting her down at 7, 7:30? I have a 12 week old and he can barely keep his eyes open towards the end of his bed time bottle. We also deal with reflux but what has helped is bath, bottle ( in his nursery, no lights, no stimulation, rock for 20 min for reflux then in Snoo.) We only do the Snoo at night so that he makes the connection that it is bed time, his room is dark and cool. Probably around 9 weeks he started sleeping 4 hours at a time but can't remember because it's still a blur! I would just try to make a big deal in differentiating day/night if you haven't already; she will get there! Good Luck ! |
Why do you have to wake her? |
Both my kids did this. I would let them fall asleep on my lap while my husband and I watched TV (in a dim room with the sound off, using subtitles), then put them down in their bassinet upstairs when we were ready to go to bed. |
Is she getting enough sleep during the day, as in never being awake more than 2 hrs at a time? That means she should have had her last good nap until 530pm. |
Late bedtimes are normal during the newborn phase |
Fir both my boys they started sleeping earlier between 3 & 4 months. Its just biological. |
