I have a handicap and signed up for absentee ballot last May. I received ballot for Democrat primary. Local Registrar's office said my ballot for Nov. Election was mailed on Sept. 19 and to date it has not been received. Today, I went to Registrar's office and voted as well as filling out paper re my unreceived absentee ballot. I was told they can trace and find out where it was delivered or what happened to it.
So, if you have had a similar problem. Go and vote in person and report missing mailed ballot. |
| I had a similar problem. NoVa so I was surprised. Thank you. I was planning to vote in person, but this is nuts. Yes I have a screenshot of the request to provide as proof to them. I hope they investigate and hold accountable anyone negligent or intentionally trying to cause harm in the election. |
| Don’t worry — both votes will count! |
Not true. You have a unique barcode on your ballot. If someone were to return an absentee ballot after the same voter (on the ballot) had voted in person, the barcode scanner would kick out the 2nd ballot (the one coming in by mail/drop box). And no one needs to provide a "screen shot" of anything. We at the elections offices can simply look up your name, find out if you were issued an absentee ballot, and then either re-issue it if it has been some time since it was mailed (and you haven't received it), or cancel it out altogether if you decide to vote in person. In either case, you will only be counted as voting once --- either by the first absentee ballot that you return, or by voting in person before returning an absentee ballot. |
PP here, thank you so much for your post! This is reassuring to hear.
