They included Pans Labyrinth.
Oh boy. Cause ya, that’s a good kids movie.... |
|
Well I saw it in '86 when it came out and I was 8 then. I feel ok with my 11 year old watching it.
What do you find objectionable, specifically? |
I think she means the newer one. But I saw that in my first year of HS, I remember because I wasn’t 17 yet and a friends parent came and saw it with us. If you think high schoolers don’t watch rated R movies...I don’t know what to tell you. |
This seems a bit much for 6th grade. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xyzSvVh9BDo |
Deal isn't a high school. |
My MIDDLE schooler absolutely does not watch R rated movies. |
Ooops sorry Pk3 teacher here. Eh that’s another story then, it’s up to the parent. I love Pan’s labyrinth and would probably let an 8th grader watch that. 11 and 12 year olds...probably not. |
Calm down Momma bear, I didn’t know Deal was a middle school, thought it was a high school. |
| Pan's Labyrinth is a Spanish movie. I understand that Hispanic Heritage Month is intended to celebrate the Latino community in the United States. I don't understand why Pan's Labyrinth would even be included. |
The director is Mexican. |
Spaniards are Hispanic ... I’m actuallh impressed that they included it. The Spanish civil war isn’t often covered in American schools. It’s definitely not a movie for elementary kids but ok for middle school. |
Hispanic = Spanish-speaking, including Spain Latinx = People from Latin America (not all of whom are Spanish speaking) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hispanic_and_Latino_(ethnic_categories) They are often used interchangeably, but they do have different meanings. Presumably Hispanic Heritage Month is meant to celebrate the former. |
| Most middle schoolers would be bored to tears by it though. |
