I was wondering if any of you had any insights or predictions on whether preschools that are currently closed will open in January. My son's school had a COVID plan, we enrolled him for the fall and two weeks later they decided not to open. I so want them to reopen. My son loved school, he misses his friends and I want him back in a structured routine.
Do any of you have any thoughts on the matter? |
How could we know if your preschool will go back on its word again? |
Start calling. Plenty of places are open now. |
Rates are liking to be worse in January than now. If they haven't opened yet, I would think there is a good chance they won't open then. Did they give any explanation (more specific than the obvious) for why they didn't open previously? Their rationale might impact the chance of them actually opening this time. Also, have people been paying to date? Do you know if they got PPP loans? Depending on their financial situation, they may be more or less likely to open. |
I think it is unlikely they will open in January. I'd guess a 20% chance.
My kids are in preschool now (wearing masks, adjusting to new rules, exc) and they love it. If you are comfortable sending your DC to a new school now, do it, even though it will be a little tough to say goodbye to a familiar place/faces. |
Some open preschools that are at lower density now as part of the mitigation plan should have openings in January if things go well and they can fill in the spots. |
Our preschool has opened with smaller classes this fall since a bunch of people deferred until Jan. In Nov, they are going to ask the deferred families if they are coming back in Jan or if they will wait until fall. Then they will know if they have room for January enrollment. |
