I’ve seen threads on the American flag but truly never known the history of Barnstars which seem innocent.
There is no hidden meanings on this, right? We are a diverse family who watches a bit too much HGTV but I really like the design. Just don’t have the pop culture info to know if it’s an outward sign of hatred or support for any political sides or beliefs/religion. |
| Unless the house is an actual converted barn or genuine farm house, then I find barnstars trite. |
| I never thought of barnstars as meaning anything. I just figured you like to shop for home decor at places like Cracker Barrel. |
| Barn stars. Huh, I learned something new today. I always thought it had something to do with the DC flag since I've never seen them anywhere else I lived. |
| I think they are traditionally German - you see them everywhere in farming communities in Pennsylvania. They may originally have been used as a "hex" to ward off bad luck or evil spirits. I don't know that any meaning continues to be attached to them. |
| MAGA |
| We own a farm with a barn, and I would never put that crap (or the quilt signs that seem to be everywhere out here) on our barn. They are supposed to bring good luck, but they just look like HGTV/Hobby Lobby junk to me. |
| I thought they were for structural purposes, not decoration? |
In a city, I would assume it's an anchor plate for a tie rod bracing masonry walls... |
| I typically see them in conservative areas. The places where Trump signs abound. |
| Utter conservative trash. |
I thought so too but I looked them up. They were usually placed by the builder. Often in PA. Separately, anything that has a whiff of Americana is now off-limits? What is happening to our country? |
| What about white picket fences? Are they a symbol of white oppression? |
| They are Pennsylvania dutch. |
I’m confused on this as well. But the Gaines family and Hobby Lobby crowd seem to lean heavily right and these barnstars are part of that aesthetic now it seems. |
