Should the NFL buy out the franchises of the Giants and Jets?

The teams are perennially irrelevant. There are no bona fide first-stringers on either active roster. Visiting-team-players risk career-ending injuries playing on the shoddy carpeting of the Meadowlands stadium.

" ... the shoddy carpeting of the Meadowlands stadium. "

There is no longer any excuse for not playing on grass.

Didn’t the Giants win a couple of super bowls recent? The ebb and flow of power teams, then bottom dwellers, makes the NFL interesting. Where were Kansas 5 years ago, or conversely - the 49-era used to dominate, now? Not so much.

Teams with the most Super Bowl wins:
Patriots: 6.
Steelers: 6.
Cowboys: 5.
49ers: 5.
Packers: 4.
Giants: 4.

No, this is no longer a cyclic phenomenon. Odell escaped the quicksand. Saquon is stuck in the mud.

The Giants play in a not great division where anything can happen, and were relevant in the not so distant past. The Jets are a whole ass mess. But if the NFL never stepped in to take over, like, the Browns when they were horrible for basically 20 years straight, they won’t interfere with the Jets either.

You have to take a vow of poverty to keep your mind on football amidst the early-morning lures of New York City, pandemic or not. A pocket full of cash combined with proximity to the Big Apple are not conducive to bearing down on any sport. How great would Mickey Mantle have been if he had played on a team in the Mid-West?

2007 & 2010 seasons. So yes it has been a while.

That said NYG is a HUGE market share, they aren't going anywhere.

I like the soccer concept of a hierarchy of "divisions" along with its 'carrot' of moving up if a franchise succeeds and its 'stick' of dropping for franchises the likes of the Giants and the Jets.

The Giants and the Jets belong in a developmental league. A place to develop 'general managers' as well as players.

A GM-league.

The best part about being an addicted fan of the Giants - the baseball Giants as well as the football team - is the off season: the hype and anticipation for the draft. I tune out the regular season. The hype season is an annual honeymoon.
