I see that elementary students will be taking the Universal Screener this year
https://www.fcps.edu/us# For Grades 1 and 2, is this a factor for AAP IV placement? If yes, given this is taken at home, how can FCPS be sure that students did not receive any help? |
|
The universal screener will probably be used as a factor for Level IV admissions this school year.
How can FCPS be sure that students didn't receive any help? Cameras are on while students are taking the universal screener. Also, fingers crossed. |
| Think I read somewhere that it can be taken offline at own pace, not sure if I'm wrong |
| It will be completely unfairly if this is used to select students for AAP. It is the I-ready test that is being administered at home. They need to wait until students are back in school. |
Cameras are optional for FCPS this year |
Would you complain if they use the DRA too, if it's taken at home? |
The DRA is still done with the Teacher even if it is done virtually. A parent cannot complete a DRA. If anything, the DRA is likely to be the most accurate assessment the kids will have this year because it will have to be the child reading and answering the Teachers questions. |
| What is the DRA? |
Developmental reading assessment |
| It will not be used for AAP screening. |
| Do parents get the results of the screener? I have never seen the results from my kid’s I-Ready and apparently she’s been taking it multiple times a year since kindergarten..? |
According to this source https://www.fcps.edu/node/35370 results are distributed to the parents, if you don't get them maybe ask your teacher |
| So what are the criteria for AAP selection this year for 2nd graders? Is it going to be based only on last year's NNAT, the Universal Screener and on teacher input? |
I asked my kids' teachers every year, and each teacher seemed to have a different way of handling it, but the end result was always that the office sent it home. I thought this year they were going to HAVE to give the scores to parents finally, instead of it being optional unless parents ask? |
| In the past year or two, the iready results have been included as part of the packet. But I don't think they can do that this year, since some parents are helping their kids with the screener and other parents are really helping their kids with it. |
