| My DD is struggling in her 11th grade math class and both parents are useless in this area. Any recommendations for a good tutor? My DD is struggling a bit with virtual learning so I would prefer someone willing to tutor in person in NW DC (we would get tested, wear masks, etc.). If not, DD will manage with a getting tutored virtually. Recommendations are greatly appreciated. |
| Reach out to the Math Department at Georgetown and get a college tutor. |

Teaches at Landon, tutored my son last year and he was great. |
| Thanks so much! |
| LS Tutors, run by Lori Solovy, a former MCPS teacher, is great. Lori is extremely responsive and her tutors have been top notch. |
| Have you asked the current math teacher? They may have a suggestion or even be willing to assist. Our county has a tutor list. You could reach out to the guidance counselor and the public library also. |

You've had excellent recommendations OP I was going to say the same about approaching schools / existing teachers for names.
Whatever you do, don't try any on wyzant. We went this route to great cost and all of their 5 star tutors were terrible, made mistakes, used completely different forms of math and didn't know anything about the MCPS curriculum. for half their price we have a HS Math teacher working with our kids from MCPS. |
Interesting! I was just about to recommend Wyzant. We've had great luck there with multiple tutors in different disciplines. Also, it is great to get non-DC rates on tutors. Also, "All of their 5 star tutors"? How many math tutors did you try? |
