In some parts of the world people eat dogs, so I don't see why people couldn't eat dog or cat food if they're desperate enough.

What type of food are you talking about though, wet or dry?

If it's wet food, would it be eaten hot or cold?

Please check with your local churches. Ours maintains a pantry full of shelf stable food (pasta, soup, beans, cereals and such) for people who may not want to go to traditional food distribution sites. If in NOVA, check out Andrew Chapel United Methodists Church. They have a pantry and if you call the lady in the Office (Donna) she will meet you and bring you in and let you select what you’d like for your family. Many churches do this. Hugs.

My family likes to tell the story that I used to share the dog’s food as a kid. If you need food though I’d reach out to local churches or food pantries.

Be careful, it's not calibrated for humans, so the mineral levels are off. Plus there could be bacteria/mold issues, since most people buy huge bags and they just sit there are room temp for weeks. There's probably a lot of preservatives in there to make it keep.

I'm sure a little bit of kibble won't hurt you, but don't make it a diet staple.

I've heard of people munching on dog cookies, but nothing more than that.

In the book Running with Scissors, Augusten Boroughs mentions living with a family whose mother (clinical psychologist) ate dry dog food out of the bag.

I used to eat plain dog milk bones as a young child. My mom caught me in them and decided the ingredients can’t be harmful. Now, 50 years later I still remember what they taste like and why I liked them. But I think the formula has changed because I bought some recently and they didn’t taste As good.

If you know me and this story, yes it is me. ^..^

My dog considers jars of peanut butter to be his, so apparently, the answer is yes.
