Why would Baltimore area Marijuana dealers be involved in dealings/shootings in NW DC. Wasn't legalization supposed to clean this up?

No. At least not in Montgomery County. Most homicides that are DV are related to illegal marijuana trade. It's gotten worse, not better.
This incident didn't happen far from the County line. Not sure if it's related. I don't know DC laws well enough. In MoCo, medical marijuana is legal, and possession has been decriminalized. You can get issued a citation but it's like getting a citation for open container of alcohol. There is still a lot of money to be had distributing marijuana to people. |
Wow, enough money for a Baltimore drug dealer to deal in Friendship Heights. I had no idea. |
| Friendship Heights and MoCo. It was right on the border. |

Legalization of marijuana is very limited. You still can’t buy it legally. You can possess small amounts and grow your own for personal use. That’s it. That doesn’t stop the illegal trade; there’s still plenty of that.

| I thought that you could practically Uber eats Marijuana in the city. Don't you order a t-shirt and get joints delivered to your front door. How much more convenient does it need to be? |
| Check the laces before you buy an illicit pair of sneakers. |
Yes, you can get Marijuana delivered in a few minutes to any DC address. There is more going on in this story than we have been told. Baltimore drug dealer and a shooting/murder right on the seam between two jurisdictions. No video footage to be found. No shot tracker data. |

NW DC murders are not 'accidental' or over sports book debts. Of course this one was drug related. That location is a great distribution point on the border. You can be in MD or DC by jumping on either side of the road and in VA in five minutes.
Between the Mansion, the Friendship Heights murder and the occasional metro shake down turned murder, the perpetrators are all from out of town. The most surprising thing about this case is that the MPD was not already all over the location. |
Upper NW has a prime demographic for illegal pot - affluent teens. They aren't old enough to buy from delivery services but they have the money and demand for weed. I grew up just a few blocks away from the site of the shooting (long before legalization) and had a few friends who were small and medium time dealers. The medium time ones would buy a 2-3 pounds at a time, which is easily enough for someone to drive down from Baltimore to sell. I can recall at least two instances where those dealers were robbed with a gun, so it's completely feasible to me that this was a robbery gone wrong. Perhaps a rival dealer got word of a sale and figured busting up a sale to some rich white kids in over their heads would be easy pickings. |
Supposedly a few years ago there was a group of white kids from Tenleytown (the Tenleytown Rats) who were running a big regional drug distribution network at other affluent mostly white high schools in the region. Unsurprisingly in part they got away with it because they were white and folks weren't as suspicious. They used to skateboard around Tenleytown. |
| The shooting occurred right in front of a residence that was a shady looking massage spa ??? Did this residence have anything to do with the shooting ??? Where they dealing drugs out of the "spa" ??? |
| MJ makes people mellow, not homicidal. This shooting probably had nothing to do with weed. I’m betting it was a gun sale that went bad. You can buy guns in Maryland because it’s a backwards redneck state. So the seller of the gun got as close to DC as possible to meet the buyer, and something didn’t go right, and the gun dealer ended up murdering him. Blame the gun lobby. |
But the police found packaged drugs all over the scene. So stop trying to make this something it is not. |
I was assuming a dealer got robbed. Why can't that be the simple explanation? |
