What happens if you don't clear snow from your plumbing vent?

I was looking at my roof and noticed that the snow is almost level with the little pipe coming from the roof that I assume is my plumbing vent. If we get any more snow it'll cover it completely -- what happens if this happens? I.E. how much of an effort do I have to make tomorrow AM to clear ths snow from the pipe??
