I am ready to weep. I HAVE to work. My boss is a 50 year old gay guy, no kids, from a culture where women don't usually work..... He is NOT sympathetic to my childcare situation

I assume that being from a culture that they don't expect women to work makes it not OK to be gay... LOL
I bet he expects to be accepted and understood for his choices, you should be comfortable explaining your needs to such a person.

Loudoun has already closed for the week. They will reopen on Feb. 16th, since Monday the 15th was already a holiday (President's Day.)

My sister who lives in Philly and got nearly the same amount of snowfall that we did went back to school today ON TIME (she's a teacher). Unreal that Loudoun is already closed for the week. I hope my kids learn something this year.

You could take this as an opportunity to read to them; teach them an (informal) lesson about snow, winter, etc.; cook together and learn about measurement; the list goes on and on. Children do not just learn at school. Parents are their child's first teachers. I would rather have my children safe at home than on a bus or crowded road that is not yet safe for driving.

My street is not plowed (not even one pass). There is no way a school bus could have gotten down the street. If it's this way today, how is it going to be Thursday (assuming we get the snow they are predicting)? I wouldn't be surprised if they are out all week.
