WPPSI preparation

I don't want to do any practice tests or anything like that but I do want to make sure that I'm doing what I should be with my DD so that she does ok on the test. We do puzzles, read, sing etc but I was wondering if there's any specific suggestions folks have. I guess it's the whole prepping vs Prepping.

Believe it or not we got a book from Target called 'Getting ready for Kindergarten" and it helped alot. It had the matching game they do for the coding section of the exam, mazes, vocabulary, etc. and my son found it actually very fun!

Beware most people on this board do not prep for WPSSI since it is immoral and unethical. The would never use any workbooks from Target, Borders, Barnes and Nobles to work with their Pre-K and K children unless the children naturally reached for these materials and they miraculously ended up in the shopping cart.

Just a warning.

It's ok to use a high priced educational consultant for your prepping though. This comes with the DCUMMIE stamp of approval.

16:04 HAHAHAHAHAHA! Too true. And we wonder why there are so many "99%" scores ...

You people are IDIOTS!!!!!!!!! I wrote that we went to Target to get the book. It wasn't like we KNEW we would be taking that stupid test. We purchased it to keep him busy on a 7 hour flight. It just so happens that YES it was educational and I BELIEVE helped with the test. Apparently those are the type of things on the test. PLEASE..I only have Target money so its not like I would ever spend money on a test. It is like buying your kids blocks ...is that CHEATING..

.... umh 7 hour flight...that's longer than some educational consultant sessions!

Very convenieint and timely I'd say!

opppps SORRY I thought you were actually saying I cheated....now getting educational consultant..thats cheating. BTW we weren't in the 99th percentile more like 80's but I still think the book helped because it was fun and educational. .

Low cost cheating (Target) versus expensive cheating (educational consultant and Apostle). That's a new one for the Judge. "Target money versus Manhattan money"

Book um Danno!

Cheating is buying the test, which one can apaprently do, or having some psychologist do prep sessions. Buying the kinds of workbooks kids do all the time, including Kumon, whatever that one they sell at Costco is, etc. is not cheating.

You are entitled to a jury of your peers...perhaps outside of D.C. area!

Well, ok. I guess you get a reduced sentence since the store you held up only was worth $10 (a WPSSI of 80 instead of 99).

Sounds like the perfect case for the US Supreme Court....ruling 5-4 with Alito writing the majority opinion.

16:18 here - I think that buying an educational book for your kid is perfectly normal and if it happens to happen before you take the WPSSI so be it. I wouldn't consider that prepping for the test if you're just trying to entertain your kid in an educational way. I was laughing at 16:04 saying that people would be on your case for buying a book while they go out and pay big bucks for an ed consultant. One is way more specific WPSSI prep than the other. I liked your suggestion - as long as your kid enjoys learning and you're not pushing it on her/him.

I gather if your child does not enjoy learning you would not push an educational book on them.
