I purchased multi sessions earlier this year from Kids First to get a discount and could not finish my sessions because they shut down all operations March 15th due to covid. There has been no communication since and I completed their contact us form on their website over the summer and still no response. There is no phone number to reach the corporate office at through a google search
I just found out that they declared chapter 11. See below. I tried to file a dispute charge with my credit card but it has been over 90 days so they cannot do a chargeback. I paid over a thousand dollars expecting to send my daughter swimming for an entire year and only was able to use a half a session due to the closure Do I have any recourse???? |
| Which branch is this? Why can't you just call the branch? Ch. 11 is just reorganization, it should not mean that you won't get your lessons necessarily... |
The branch that I purchased my sessions at is closed and the number is disconnected |
| This happened to us with Language Stars, and our credit card company did approve a dispute. We also paid monthly so we were not going to be out much anyway. Unfortunately some other parents did pay full tuition by check, and they were not able to recoup the money. This has made me very leery of paying these types of fees in full or via check. |

Maybe try the number here?

| You are out of luck. This is why it's stupid to prepay for things. |
| I’m sorry to hear they are struggling. I really liked that business. |
| You can file a claim with the bankruptcy court. It isn't hard to do. The amount that you get back (if any) will depend on what assets (again, if any) are available for distribution to unsecured creditors. |
| Of course they are bankrupt. Business were forced out of business by government closures. Your beef isn't with the company. Their expenses didn't change. |
| Kids First in Rockville has reopened. You can call and see if they will honor your credits. They are trying hard to get people in the door. GL to you. |
Don't be dense. You have to pay upfront for lots of activities -- sports leagues, art classes, and swimming lessons. It's not a pay-as-you-go model. |
