Outdoor ballet classes?

DC doesn’t do Zoom well, but we don’t let them go indoors anywhere but our house. Anybody know of any outside dance classes in NOVA?

I would add that we’d only be interested if masks were required. Thanks!

You sound paranoid. Never heard of outdoor ballet class. Ever. Even if it exists, how long do you think it would last? A month at most? Can’t imagine kids wearing their leotards in 50 degrees weather.

My daughter is attending in-person ballet class with 3 other kids and a teacher. She wears a mask the entire time and they stand far apart. Temperature is taken before she enters, sanitizes her hands, and parents are not allowed to enter.

Where are you, OP? Arlington County parks & rec has outdoor ballet classes going on right now. I'm guessing they're all full, but perhaps they will offer more again in the spring.

We are in Fairfax. Do you know offhand if I could get kid into those classes, perhaps for an extra few?

We are paranoid because we bubble with grandparents. Kid only has play dates with masks, and only outdoors. I am just ready for kids to have an activity.

Don't let the Covid-deniers wear you down, OP. You are right to take precautions.

I’m not being a “covid deniers.” I’m the previous poster. I feel that the ballet school is taken all the necessary precautions and I feel safe enough for my child to attend a class she loves.

Good for you if you can find an outdoor class. I’m in Montgomery County and I’m not aware of any outdoor classes, private or with the county.

Local Motion in Alexandria was doing outdoors this summer. Not sure about now.

There are a few in happening in Takoma Park, but they’re all full. I assume after this session they’ll break until the spring.

NP, I'd be interested too.

Not close to us, but I’d be willing to drive for an outdoor class. Thanks for the recommendation.

OP not sure exactly where you are/how far you are willing to drive but my daughter takes outdoor (on a deck!) dance classes at Momentum dance theatre on Barracks Row Capitol Hill (so right off the 395 freeway). Very small studio/classes; kids and instructors wear masks. There are a couple of ballet classes offered (I think M and Th early evening? can't recall but the website should have the current offerings).

Go Bananas Dancing and Barody (not sure I spelled that right) will both set up an outdoor class for you in Va if you gather a group of kids. Google for their websites.

A proper ballet class requires a bar, a mirror, and a hard floor. I struggle to imagine how these requirements can be met outdoors.
Whatever passes for ballet in those classes you all are signing up your children for, is nothing but. Sorry to break it to you.

You are quite wrong. Outdoor ballet intensives have been offered for decades pre-covid. google outdoor ballet. https://www.axios.com/state-coronavirus-infection-records-dacd090e-3fa3-4e1b-9aa7-76e1a2690418.html
