Vancouver/Whistler

We are thinking about taking the kids to Vancouver and Whistler this summer? Would love feedback from anyone who has gone with kids, particularly on places to stay and any recommendations on one of the island/beach areas to go for a few days. Thanks!

went to both during the summer -- stayed at four seasons in vancouver and in whistler, though i wouldn't necessarily recommend them. they were nice but think there are a lot of other (cheaper) alternatives, especially in whistler. didn't go to vancouver island, but would love to go to tofino if we ever went back. stanley park is wonderful for kids -- know they have at least one beachy area, but we opted for the aquarium and park-like areas instead. whistler you can't go wrong it is very kid-friendly the way the village is set up, plus a bunch of biking hiking trails.
