Premier League

So now we’re 2 match days into the Premier League season. What are everyone’s impressions so far? Who’s surprised you? Who’s playing the best footy? Who’s underwhelmed? Best match you’ve seen so far? Best goal? Biggest farce? Hoping we can get a good discussion going

Hard to tell, as most games are now only shown on Peacock.

I caved and got Peacock, the allure of watching a Marcelo Bielsa team was too much

We caved and got Peacock too, after initially saying "no way." So annoying, but if you are a Premier League fan, it's hard to say "no."

Who's surprised me..... Leeds United. Didn't expect such fearless attacking play from a just-promoted team, Bielsa or not, against the likes of Liverpool. And such defensive weaknesses as well. Hope they stay up in EPL.
Best footballing sides..... Liverpool, Leeds (entertainment value), special mentions: Arsenal (grit), Crystal Palace (took apart Man U.).
Underwhelming...... Chelsea (so far, esp. Kai Havertz - early days though, Werner looking good, and they need a certain Pennsylvania kid back). Man U (enough said).
Best games.... both Leeds games, Spurs-Southampton
Biggest farce(s)..... VAR and handballs leading to penalties
New EPL players I am looking forward to seeing more of, week after week...... Thiago, Werner, Havertz, Gabriel.

Everton is most improved. Leeds is gonna be exciting to watch. When Chelsea gets a full, healthy 11 on the field, they could be fantastic, but Werner was a little disappointing In his first outing. Tons of great goals in the first two weeks. Reece James goal against Brighton?

Same here. I hate the trend, though. We also got CBS All Access earlier this summer to watch the Champions League.

I think NBC is making a mistake with Peacock.

I think that the Premier League season is off to a great start, though. Goals galore this weekend! I agree with another poster that Everton look to be the most improved team so far. James Rodriguez will be fun to watch. I'm also rooting for Leeds to do well (and think they will). I'm British, and Leeds were still a relatively big team when I was a child (and were a really big team when my parents and grandparents were young).

I hope that there is a close title race this year, and there is not a run-away winner like last season (Liverpool) and the 2017-2018 season (Man. City).

PP here. How could I have forgotten Everton (best footballing side and most improved), and James Rodriguez (among the ones I want to see every week). After the shabby treatment he got at Real (after Ancelloti) and Bayern, this guy has a lot to prove.

Meh. They’re not Pipeline, not in the ECNL, not worth my time

I’ve been following Leeds for the past 2 years and all I can say is be ready to be entertained because they play like this every week, doesn’t matter who the opponent is they take the game to them for 90 minutes. They’re a refreshing and humble team that’s still being developed and pushed beyond their limits by one of the best coaches in the world. Crazy to think a large part of that roster looked mediocre and finished 13th in the second division the season before Bielsa arrived.

Although, they are showing more on Peacock with a cable subscription alone. Not saying I like it, but at least you get more content. It seems like they are holding some top matches for Peacock. That's how they sucked us in.

So you could get complete coverage last year on NBC Sports Gold, with no scores during the broadcast. And you could also reverse if you started late into the game. The worst part about Peacock is the absence of a rewind feature during live matches. If you are late, you have to wait 4 hours from the start of broadcast before watching. it's dumb and there is no good reason for a decrease in that kind of functionality on a pay streaming service.
