Prius V

Anonymous
Hi everyone,
I have to look for a car. I narrowed it to Prius V model. The last year this car was made is 2017, so focusing on 2017 models.
I have been reading about gas efficiency not being as high with age of the car. Any experience?
I would consider suggestions for other hybrid and wagon or small SUV.
Thank you.

No first-hand experience, but my sister and her family have had two Prius Vs and loved them, put ~200k miles on them (lots of midwest hockey mom driving). When she had to replace them because of sheer old age, she went with hybrid RAV-4s and loves them, too.

I really love the practicality of that size and am sorry they discontinued it. I couldn't find a used one when I needed to replace my car in a hurry. It does seem like car-height small wagon-shaped cars are coming back into fashion, though probably nothing as reliable as the Prius at this point, and not much on the used market yet.

The efficiency does slip with age but it's not terrible. I get about 45 mpg with my 2005 Prius with 200k miles. I replaced 2 cells in the battery pack a couple years ago ($100 on eBay) but otherwise the hybrid system is fully original. They are good cars.

We have a 2014 Prius V Five. We've averaged 43 MPG over 70K miles. Love the V! Good luck!

i would also look at the ford cmax.... more space than a regular prius, a but less than the prius V. but much better looking an feeling interior quality. IMO I had a Generation 3 Prius that got crushed by a falling tree before I bought the ford. the prius V was also on my short list at the time.

I have a 2013 ford Cmax (not the energi) with 92K miles, so far no problems, lifetime mileage is 42mpg.

2018 was the last year for the cmax.
