Outdoor Birthday Party Venue

I'm looking to have a small celebration for my baby's first birthday in October, somewhere outdoors where we can gather a few friends and family. Would like to decorate, bring some rental equipment, and make it special for her. Any recs on gardens, parks, mini-golfs, or other ideas in the NOVA or D.C. area?

Any park.

Any park with a shelter. You could rent from the park, decorate the tables, get balloons, even get an entertainer.

This is so dumb. Your kid doesn't know. Stop being a covidiot and celebrate at home.

You can check Rock Creek to see if they're still letting people reserve their picnic sites. We always do my DS's birthday in October outdoors at one of these sites. (Not this year, though.)

You kid is turning ONE. It will not be special for her. First birthdays are for the parents. My kids are doing in-person school and sports and have done some indoor playdates, so I'm not overly conservative when it comes to COVID, but this is just ridiculous.

Frying Pan Farm Park - we went early Saturday morning and there were people setting up for a birthday party. Looked like a great idea!

At this age it is really just for you. If there are no other kids, invite a few friends and family to a vineyard and have a picnic with cake. There is a pandemic going on so limit your group to under 10.

Winery is a great idea! Call ahead to see if you can get one that takes reservations.

I cannot believe you are looking for a baby birthday party venue 6 months prior to a birthday party.

FYI October weather can be hit or miss. I know we always try to go apple picking or cox farms and I feel like every year we have to reschedule due to rain.

I had big first birthday parties for my three kids. My first I had at a very fancy restaurant. Second and third’s first birthdays were at our house.

Is this a dohl?

I have never been to an outdoor dohl party. Are you trying to do this outside because of covid? I think by October you will be able to have an indoor party.

Huh—I tend to be annoyed when everyone seems to assume that everyone else is white online, but why assume they are Korean?
