GT/Magnet?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I wanted to double check. DCPS does not offer any GT classes right? No extra enrichment pull outs for GT kids?

Correct

Yes. If you want GT, the best you can do is a charter with school with enhanced academic curricula. Try EL Haynes, Elsie Stokes, LAMB, and Washington Yu Ying.

Unfortunately, DC is allergic to any actions that can be criticized as "elitist". That's the best way to alienate the elite, which is actually a silly thing to do.

Another charter with "enhancd academics": Washington Latin beginning in 5th grade

They used to when I was in elementary. Too bad if they've gotten rid of it.

Yes, sorry for skipping that one. I would have mentioned it, but for some reason I had the impression the OP was asking about elementary schools (maybe because it seemed that if she were already in the system, she wouldn't have needed to ask the question). In any case, Washington Latin looks like the most innovative and interesting middle/high school program in the city.

OP here. Thanks. Yes, I am not in the system yet so that's why I posted. Also, has anybody brought this up with M Rhee in her listening tours? What is her response?

what are enhanced academics exactly?
