| Is it rude to get your waiters attention that way? Or is there a more polite way? |
| Not at all as long as you don’t expect them to drop what they are doing and come right over. |
| As long as the hand is not snapping, it’s fine. |
| No. It is common in Europe much more. Why? Bcs they don't harass you every couple of minute. |
| Not rude, as long as it’s not flailing away! Add in a smile for good measure. |
| What is this word “waiter”...? I vaguely recall... |
| Why use a hand? Just wait until the waiter comes back in 1 minute to ask, "Are you still working on that?," "How does that taste?," and/or "Here is your bill. I know you are still working on your salad but no rush. Take your time!" |
| Garçon! |
| I find it’s especially effective — assuming the server identifies as she/her—to wave my arms and yell “Miss! Miss!” in the most grating NYC accent I can imitate. |
|
It's not rude. I think it's helpful as long as once you get the waiters eye you stop.
|
I know! I read the title, and thought, "how do you have a waiter on Zoom?"! |
| As a former server, I’d much rather you wave at me or give the high sign than fume because you want my attention but don’t have it, for whatever reason. Just don’t snap your fingers. |
| Above head rude, below head fine. |
That's pretty arbitrary. A hand below the head could easily be unseen. I say as long as you're not snapping your fingers it's fine. |
This is funny. We are told to harass you all. |
