Birthday Celebration Ideas

What interesting things have you all done to celebrate your teen's birthday during the past six months? It will be mid-November. We've been social distancing, but would like to make this day different and celebratory. Hard during this time, for sure! Thanks in advance.

Drive to the mountains and spend the night. Hike, cook outside, see the leaves.

OP here. Love this. Also considering letting my kiddo and a buddy we've been "podding" with have a camp out in our backyard. Get a cheap movie projector and show a movie outdoors.

That would be good too.

We arranged for DD's friends to come by one at a time, throughout the day. We set up two chairs on either side of the driveway and they'd sit and talk for 30-60 minutes. They dropped off gifts, we tossed each friend a goody bag and a snack to eat.

I never made so much small talk in my life, but DD LOVED it.

Oh yeah. Do this. Fire pit and s’mores too.

Do teens like the “card your yard” signs?

I decorated the house with banners and balloons then made DDs favorite breakfast. That night she chose a restaurant to order dinner from. We’d hoped she could invite a couple of friends for a socially distanced afternoon in the yard but the weather forecast was horrible so we didn’t chance it.

DS wanted a new upgraded gaming system and a day trip to the country with DH to go biking. Easy and done. He had a great time with his dad for the day and had spent countless nights socializing with friends online.

Let’s keep this thread nice. She was probably making small talk with parents. Let’s not ask leading questions so we can judge each other.

Not OP. I like this idea. Anyone have any ideas where to find a screen, a projector and a movie?
