| Woke up this morning to see some light spots of blood in my underwear..should I be worried? It’s a very small amount of blood and everything else feels fine (good baby movement, no cramps or contractions). Have never seen any blood throughout the pregnancy, not even in first trimester. Luckily I am due to see my OB later today for a routine appointment but would like to get a sense of what this could possibly be/ whether I should be worried in the meantime. |
| I'm glad you're going in today, that's good timing. It's probably nothing, but always good to get checked. Is it bright red? Brown is less worrying than bright red. Did you have sex recently? Sometimes that causes me some spotting the next day. |
No sex for more than a month so it can’t be that. It is more red than brown but not bright red. Should I call my OB’s office ahead of my appointment to give them the heads up so they can look at my records beforehand (I am seeing a new doctor in the practice today who I’ve never met) or should I just mention it when there? |
I would call ahead to give them a head's up. It certainly can't hurt, and maybe it will help. |
Def call ahead especially if you’re Rh- and might need a rhogam shot so they can have one ready for you |
| OP, check back in with us and let us know how it went. Hope all is well! |
| I had pink spotting sometime around then and freaked out and of course got checked out - nothing was wrong. I have no idea what caused it but baby was fine and it didn’t happen again. But definitely see the dr just in case. |
| Def get any bleeding in 3rd trimester checked out. |
| Just saw the doctor. They did a sono and an exam to check the cervix but couldn't figure out what was the issue. Everything looked normal. They said to call if it happened again. |
| Have you been a little constipated lately? Hemorrhoids start to get common around then. |
| Get checked. I had this exact thing a few weeks earlier than you are having it. I was dilated and ended up delivering very early. But I had time to get the steroid shots. My experience is unusual, but please get checked out. Better safe than sorry. |
| It is always worth it to check out. Blood in third trimester could be a placenta issue or something requiring an emergency C section. You're best off checking out to be safe. Glad you're ok |
Same with me. Initially they waved it off, but it happened a few days later. Luckily they took it serious then, because I ended up delivering at 26 weeks. |
That’s good. But I’m the PP above, so definitely go in asap if it happens again. I would even ask if it’s worth getting steroid shots for your baby’s lungs now as a precaution. Made a huge difference for my tiny baby. |
OP here. Yikes this is scary. Did they check how long your cervix was/whether it was closed? Mine is at 3.6 which they said was very good and normal for 28 weeks. |
