Ectopic means that the fertilized egg implanted in the tube (or elsewhere, but that's very rare). So as soon as there is implantation, the pregnancy can be ectopic. However, it is unlikely to burst if you're just a few days past implantation. I had a friend who had an ectopic that burst (she almost died, good thing she was near a major hospital) and she said the pain was excruciating. I am not a doctor, but wonder if the thought here is that you had a chemical pregnancy. But if the pain persists, definitely have it checked out, ectopic can be dangerous. Also, to your question about ovarian cysts - I had one, it never burst, just went away on its own, and the pain was strong but dull, kind of like regular PMS cramps but localized. Good luck.
