Help! My to-be-3-in-July daughter is so active and full of energy-any ideas about how to let her run free? I take her outside all the time, but are there any structured programs that run longer than 1 hour that someone can recommend? (She'll be going to camp in June and PS in the fall).

Where do you live? In Arlington there are co-op playgroups that are wonderful. We were at the Lee Center and loved it. Basically, unless you are in the Friday group the playgroup meets twice a week for 2 hours. Moms take turns working, so if the group meets 12 times, you must work 4 of those times. If you are not working, you can just do a drop off and have some free time for yourself!! My DD made some really good friends and I also made some really good friends.
There is plenty of free play during those 2 hours, but there is also snack, circle time and a craft. The kids usually go outside for the last 1/2 hour (or if it's raining they play in the gym with ride-on's, etc.) I would google Lee Center Cooperative Playgroup Arlington, VA and you'll get to the website which tells you how to get on the waitlist. There is a group that meets from 12-2 on Mondays that is for 2-4 year olds. It's the easiest one to get a spot in. The best part is that it only costs $120 a year- That's about $1 a visit. What a bargain!!! Good Luck!! ![]() |
