Does anyone have experience with vitamin D deficiency and recurrent miscarriage?
I've experienced recurrent miscarriage and going through RE tests. Everything has come back normal, but my vitamin D is at the lowest end of normal and I swapped prenatals after the last miscarriage to one with much higher vitamin D- about a month before the blood test. I'm also really surprised to be on the low end of normal given that I have a pretty active lifestyle, with at least an hour outside most days, a balanced diet, and a prenatal (though the previous one had only 400UI). The science on vitamin D and miscarriage seems to be relatively new, but strong. |
| i don't know but make sure you have been tested for antiphospholipid antibodies. that's a big one for miscarriage, and often doesn't get tested right away |
| Was your thyroid checked? Undiagnosed hypothyroid likely contributed to a couple miscarriages I had. Vitamin D deficiency is sometimes associated with hypothyroid, I believe. |
| How much Vitamin D are you currently taking? I used to have low Vitamin D, despite spending all summer in the sun, healthy diet, and taking a prenatal with 600 IU Vitamin D. The doctor advised me to up my Vitamin D to 1600-2000 IUs, which seemed to do the trick. I'm in the normal range, but the lower end of normal. |
| Yes, but I still had recurrent miscarriages after my vitamin D was fixed. It’s not a silver bullet. |
Pp, I'm sorry, I misread your original message. I didn't see that you are in the normal but low range. |
