| hi, in starting my first (and hopefully only 🙂) ivf cycle. I'm on 300 iu of follistim and 225 if menopur. Does that seem like a lot? Did you have a lot of side effects? |

Those were my doses too for most of my 6 (!) IVF cycles! I think it's not unusual. I really had almost no side effects except at the end of cycles when I certainly felt kind of bloated, but that's just because my ovaries were physically pretty large by then (I was a good responder insofar as eggs went; my issue was plain old age). Never had headaches, nausea, or even sharp mood swings or anything like that.
I did find the Menopur to sting a bit going in but that went away almost immediately once it was in. Icing helped a bit. The Follistim didn't sting at all. Good luck! I hope you get your BFP on this first go-round!

| Depends on your age and AMH/AFC. If you’re 38 or older yes I think that is pretty standard. |
| I had basically the same doses. Didn’t find much in the way of side effects except for the usual bloating and etc. I got two PGS normals. First transfer was earlier this year and I’m in my third trimester now. Fingers crossed for you! |

I cycled several years ago. The research at that time showed that more than 400 or so IUs of gonadotropins a day did not improve outcomes. That research did not stop lots of clinics from prescribing more.
You should update the research but I have no idea why a clinic would start you that high without some clear reason. I was in my 40s and my best cycles were ~2000 IUs total—retrieved around a dozen oocytes, all mature, all fertilized, all progressed. My first two and worst cycles were closer to your dosage. Best of luck to you. |
