Expected to draw thousands to downtown. Activist groups bringing people in on busses. And people on this forum are shouting at each other for jogging outside without a mask.

| Do you have a counter protest planned to remind them to be careful? |
| Whose idea was it to stage a march on Washington in late August? |
The organizers of the one in 1963. |
| I would normally go, but between COVID and the recent escalation in violence, I'm not going anywhere near downtown tomorrow. |
Yup. MLK, Jr, etc. etc. In 1993, I attended the 30th anniversary commemoration. Fugazi played at the Sylvan Theater and they performed "Waiting Room", which they seldom performed. The speeches were played on a speaker system. It was cool. Things have changed so much! |
It’s a question of acceptable risk. It’s not worth the risk to others just so you can go jogging. It IS worth the risk to others to get rid of trump. See the difference, dummy?

How does putting people on buses to DC for the march right now get rid of Trump? I don't see how that's going to change anyone's mind. |
So what should they do instead at this moment in time to address the violation of human rights? |
Follow the advice of experts and stay home. - Call / write your congressmen, senators, governors, county board members. - Phone bank for Biden/Harris - Donates to down ballot races If you absolutely positively need that protest selfie for your IG profile ok, but then you don't get to comment on any other persons actions related to COVID. |
DP, I think most people have their minds made up about their vote at this point, considering we've known who the candidates are for about six months. |
This. You protest, you lose your right to complain about anything COVID-related. Social contract. |

BLM protests have made a huge difference this year. There have been massive changes in public opinion that would not have happened if people weren't seeing thousands of people, White and Black, marching in support of BLM.
Michael Osterholm pointed out in today's podcast that the protests didn't result in huge spikes in cases because they were outdoors and people were masked. If you go jogging you should have a mask with you. But joggers without masks are not a huge threat. Be more worried about college students partying. |
I agree the protests have moved the needle on public opinion. However, I don't think any of the previous protests encouraged people to get on buses and ride for hours to different cities. It was more of a protest where you are situation, which is more effective anyway. |

No in person school for any DC school student.
Deemed unsafe. Lists of states updated on the "must quarantine". Deemed unsafe to travel to them. Thousands of folks on the Mall from all over the country (ooh, maybe some of those "bad" states" even). That is okay. Stupid. |
