3dt w frag

Anonymous
Long story short, been at this a loong time. DD is almost 4 and now i’m 41.5
Severe DOR. We started freezing on day 3 after my first fresh 3dt transfer worked (DD) and we had our remaining 7 all arrest and not make it to blast. In total we have transferred since 8 high quality perfect 8 celled embryos and only a CP to show for it. We have two 6 cells frozen that are left with 20% frag. We’ve been paying storage on them for 3 years. Do we transfer them? Is it a waste of time? Anyone have success w crappy day 3 embryos? These were all frozen when i was 37/38.

I say this as gently as possible - I have been through this same scenario, and I know it’s so hard.

I think the chances are very low. If you’re totally OOP, I probably would not transfer them.

Have you thought about next steps? I have a friend who did a transfer of her day 3s and a donor embryo at the same time and became pregnant.

OP here, it’s covered by insurance that is ending in 2 months which is why we are like, we should use it. Unfortunately it’s not enough for a new retrieval cycle.
I don’t think we’d do DE at this point as DH is happy w just one, I’m the lunatic that keeps having hope.

NP here. Oh yes, I totally hear you on the "lunatic that keeps having hope" front. As a fellow lunatic, I would really think about how a failed transfer would affect your mental health. You know those are low odds of success, and sometimes walking away on your own terms can be really beneficial. On the other hand, if you let those go, you may have worse lingering "what if" doubts. If it were me, I'd really work hard to mentally prepare for it not to work, then transfer them while you have the insurance coverage. Though I'm seemingly unable to get off the "let's just try this one more thing" roller coaster, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

OP here. We are going to do it. Starting BCP for FET today. Completely aware we have <1% chance at live baby
