My kid has an appointment this week at a location a few blocks from a metro station. Our house is two blocks from a metro station on the same line. We haven’t used metro since Covid, but due to nap times with the younger kid, I would have to drive 30 minutes and drop DH and and DC1 off, drive 30 min back for DC2 nap, then repeat a few hours later. (DH cannot drive.) Metro would be so much easier and DC1 is a good mask wearer.
I searched but didn’t see any recent thread about metro safety re. Covid infection. WWYD? Thanks! Hi |
| Wear masks. Bring hand sanitizer since you will likely touch shared surfaces. You should be OK. |
| I would be fine riding it myself, but not sure if I’d take my kids at this point. How olds your kid? Can they be trusted to minimize their exposure while riding? |
| Metro is virtually empty and they've increased frequency to almost pre-pandemic levels. It's incredibly easy to distance in near-empty cars, and you don't have to sit if you don't want to touch surfaces. You're probably safer on Metro than on a trip to the grocery store. |

I would drive, but then, that drive sound like no big deal to me since I am doing it 8 times a day right now to take kids to and from sports and jobs.
I would not risk the metro to avoid a missed nap or an extra to/fro drive. |

Thanks, everybody. DC1 is 4 and I trust him to settle down and watch a show on DH’s phone during the rides.
(I should have added to my OP, DH wants to be the one with DC1 at the appointment.) |
| I feel like it’s ok for a short ride one time. |
Wow. That is absurd. |
| I would. Wear masks, touch as little as possible, use hand sanitizer, and maintain distance from others. All Metro riders are supposed to wear masks, and the cars are still pretty empty. |
| It's fine. |
