Its going to happen across all local leagues. Only a matter of time..

ODSL didn’t have enough teams... NCSL (and I assume the others) have plenty.

This should be the end of ODSL. There is no place for it anymore in the competitive spectrum. Seems dishonest to me to wait this long and claim it is due to safety concerns. It seems clearly due to a lack of teams. They should have never collected fees and registrations for this season.

Big blow to Loudoun Soccer club.
They field like 1-2 teams in ODSL per age group (Cash cows to pay those coaches and super duper amazing 6 figure earning employees).

Wonder what they’ll tell families now since there is legitimately no reason for them to keep existing (those ODSL teams I mean). $2.5K for scrimmages against other teams within the club? Sounds like an expensive scrimmage in my opinion!

As others have pointed out, you're wrong as to the reason the season was canceled. But aside, why are you excited about the other leagues canceling? You're the epitome of tone def.

between this and suburban fellowship, it's not a good year for not quite travel teams. I feel bad for those kids

I beg your pardon, but it's not hard to read between the lines with the OP...at all. ODSL canceled because of lack of teams, not because of health concerns. What in the world does that have to do with NCSL for example (which doesn't lack for teams)?

Saying "place your bets" with an exclamation certainly implies excitement.

ODSL has been so wonderfully quirky. Some outstanding teams like the Olimpiakos teams. I remember reffing a game with a team that had just moved over from CCL2, and they were stunned to be blown out.

Not too long ago, ODSL was a viable place for big clubs' third and fourth teams, and some of those players moved on to play at pretty high levels. Can't be too surprised. Coaches make a lot of mistakes at U9 tryouts.
