Kids With Special Needs and Disabilities
Does anyone know of any Phono-Graphix tutors in the montgomery county area?
My son did a phonographix based summer program at the McLean School in Potomac. They may be able to refer some tutors. Good Luck
thanks. That's a great suggestion. We actually applied to Mclean for next school year. Does your child attend and do you like it?
|
My son just attended for the summer. Considering we were sending a anti-reading child to a reading summer program, I would say he enjoyed it. Did it work miracles..sadly no. 4 weeks was probably not enough. We are considering applying for middle school (which would be 2011).
I feel strongly about being part of our public school..but my son'sneed to learn is more important and I don't think he is getting what he needs at the moment. Good luck with the application. |
The Lab School may be able to reccomend some as well as they use that program, otherwise the website has trained SLP's locator
We've had a great experience with our Lab School tutor!
I am a 6 year veteran teacher and certified to teach Phonographix. I have been using it in my K and 1 classes for the last three years. I am currently teaching and am available evenings and weekends. I would love to help, Phonographix is such an effective program. I also am trained in Handwriting Without Tears. My email is chelseadbazzle@gmail.com.
For the pp whose son attended McLean's summer program, did he do the intensive reading program or the Brain Camp (which I understand also has math and writing)? Also, what is phonographix?
My son did the instensive summer reading program. Google phonographix for a complete description. It is a approach to reading used with kids who struggle.
