| kids age 11 -13. we have not attended any soccer since March. Fall practices are beginning and was considering going so the kids have an activity but i am a little concerned. Club says the trainings will be technical, fitness based and socially distanced but did not mention masks. what are the rules regarding masks? Has it been your experience that kids and coaches are wearing masks? |
Yes. Many are also wearing inflatable plastic bubble suits. It's making soccer trickier than pre-covid but the kids are definitely developing new skills. I have found it helps to put a distinctive logo on the bubble suit so you can recognize whuch kid is yours. |
| Yes |
| I don’t see kids on Potomac or Bethesda teams practicing with masks. They actually do scrimmages too during practice. But I see the coaches wearing masks. |
| Masks walking to and from the field. |
+1. And during breaks (which was weird bc they are water breaks) but anyway coaches at all times. |
Who is they? Have not noticed scrimmaging at any bethesda practices that I've been to. They actually emailed that they would not be scrimmaging. But I guess every coach and age is different. |
Bethesda teams wear masks - in practices - unless they are doing drills that are social distanced So scrimmage like drills they wear masks. |
| Coaches yes, players no. |
Not the one I saw. |
If you saw before the revised Moco order, would have likely been different. All the older girls practices have been wearing masks during scrimmage like drills. Our coaches are extremely strict. |
| You should come over to VA where it is a free for all. |
That’s great. I don’t know when the new MoCo order went into effect but I watched the scrimmage/practice last week for 2009/2008 age group. |
Please contact your club and coach to discuss. They are the ones that can provide you with the information you are looking for. We can all tell you what we see, but that might not be accurate for your team. |
| This isn't a popular option on this board, but so you know that it may be a possibility... I told our coach that we are still being very cautious, and they are putting together a customized virtual program for ds. Some check ins with coach, some virtual 1-on-1 training. It's not great, but keeps him active and on the team. We'll hopefully rejoin the others for spring season. |
