My kids are joining PGCPS for the first time in a couple weeks and I see instruction will be fully remote through at least January. What digital platform is used for instruction? Zoom, Google Classroom?
Relatedly, what personal device do you recommend for the live instruction sessions? iPad? Laptop? Do the kids need to type in live answers? We've been participating in the virtual summer camp activities through the city & library and find the kids struggle to type in live answers. Also open to suggestions on headphones. Thanks! |

We use the chrome book provided by the school, has worked fine.
Last spring was a couple of different platforms, clever, zoom. Our school said mostly Teams this fall. My kid breaks and loses headphones, I just buy several cheap ones and replace as needed. |
| Meant to add, last spring there was no typing live answers. |

As we were late in registering, so might have missed our opportunity to get a Chrome book.
Is this similar to what you got: https://www.target.com/p/hp-11-6-34-chromebook-11-hour-battery-16gb-storage-black-11-v031nr/-/A-75574446?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&CPNG=PLA_Electronics%2BShopping&adgroup=SC_Electronics&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=9007761&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1248099&gclid=CjwKCAjw1ej5BRBhEiwAfHyh1PFX8fyXnADNZhbEcbVsmpz0McKoIbiDJMD2Jdo3g2yw4fDbwIu3TxoCiO0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Sounds like any cheap laptop will work? |

They haven't distributed laptops yet at most schools. They are supposed to next week.
My kids use a Samsung Chromebook that we had pre-pandemic. Very basic. I think any Chromebook or laptop would work. I got my middle schooler a larger monitor and full size keyboard for the fall. Her teachers used a lot of cool resources but it resulted in multiple windows opened at once which was hard to deal with on the small screen. |
