Looking for a governess/private tutor who can travel worldwide

Anonymous
We live in DC but travel a lot. I have an elementary aged child who will be going distance learning through her private school. I’d like to find a private tutor to travel with us worldwide once we are able. I need a teacher or former teacher who can help with the DL as well as plan enrichment activities. Salary is open. We can pay well over $100K for the school year. Accommodations included. What agencies in the US would specialize in finding a private tutor/governess? Thanks.

I call troll. If you’ve got this much money, you can’t be this dumb.

No one in a situation like this (and I know a few) would be on DCUM looking for a tutor like this.

Triple troll. This job market exists for sure, and one of my kid's preschools has become something of a feeder for these jobs, but the folks with 100K to drop on a private traveling tutor are not asking on DCUM.

Where should I ask? So you can only post on DCUMs if you make less than a certain amount of money? I’m looking for recommendations from people who have used agencies in the past.

I’ve been offered two positions exactly like yours this month, OP. I turned both down.

Managing DL is confining when you’re in a single home. Flitting all over the world may have your child up at midnight to attend class on zoom. Withdraw your child, pay for a decent distance learning course and homeschool offline.

OP, try londongoverness.com

I am a teacher, and several of my younger colleagues at the UK boarding school where I worked pre-lockdown signed up for this and were placed, one with a local UK family and one with a family in Dubai.

Lol. If you have the money to do this, this is not the place you should be looking for a quality governess.

To add to this, the service places governesses internationally, so you can definitely find one who isn't UK based here.

Every agency will tell you they can help you. But you need an elite agency or one that specializes in live-in, educated nannies. I think your best choices would be Nanny League or Pavillion.

I don’t know the agencies but I think this should be easy to find. If I was young or had no family of my own I would totally do it. If you can really afford this you should know the people to call to get this done.

OP here. Thanks for the suggestions PP. I really don’t think it’s easy to find what we need. The tutor would need to be able to travel with us so someone with no ties (spouse, kids, etc). I’m not looking for a preschool teacher as my child is 9. The tutor needs to be able to communicate with my child’s teachers and be able to help her complete her work. Her school expects a high level of engagement and my child will need a lot of support. I’d also like someone who can help with French.
