People who routinely leave 8ft in front of them when parallel parking

Anonymous
Stop it. You're a selfish jerk. If you can't parallel park well, or have THAT much trouble getting out of a spot, go someplace else. I'm not the world's best parallel parker, but I'm not obnoxious to take up an ungodly amount of space that leaves 8 ft in front of you, 7 in back, and essentially the space for 2 vehicles because you're that self centered or inept. Go park in an edge spot until you hone your skills. Jerk.

You have no idea where the other cars were when that person parked.

I think it's more likely that this just happens as cars of different sizes come and go.

Exactly. I'll never forget the little old lady who yelled at me for parking badly, when I'd been forced to because the entire row was out of alignment. Of course, when she came along, the other cars had left and mine was the only one badly parked.

Yeah, I do. The people who routinely do this on my street are only 2 things: (1) royally selfish, or (2) totally inept

Suck it up and pay $10 to park in a garage, OP.

I'll park how I want Dad!

Yeah, I agree this is bad manners. I wonder if it is mostly people who did not grow up in cities where parallel parking is common.

For example, I dated a guy from LA who had what I consider really rude parking skills. Like you know how at the end of the block there is oftena sign that indicates you cant park past that sign? He would park like four or six feet away from that sign, thus wasting parking space! I think you should park more like 18 inches away. Or he would leave four or five feet between his car and the next car, when I think two feet is more appropriate in a crowded urban block.

He also would stand on both sides of escalators, even at places like the airport.

Really rude by DC standards, but I wonder if such behavior would not be considered as rude in LA.

I totally understand that lots of people didn't grow up in an environment where parallel parking is the norm. That's fine. But then you don't hog street parking. You find a corner/end spot, even if it means walking further. And you practice. Taking up 2 spots is insanely, insanely rude. Especially if you do this on a regular basis and have neighbors.

Not a jerk, want to get in/out and not have you park so close that you hit my car.

Well since some states don’t require parallel parking on the drivers tests anymore...

That makes you jerk. You're not cut out for street parking.

Sorry you don't like my parking. Let me know your license plate and I will be sure to leave exactly 3 inches behind you

How about you split the difference, and have 4ft in front, 4 in back? Is being a decent, reasonable person hard for you?
