Difference btwn elecare/neocate/puramino formula?

Dr suggests we try one. Didn’t recommend one in particular. Any difference between them?

See an allergist who can give you more information. A regular pediatrician doesn’t have that much experience with these.

Different brands, similac, enfamil, etc. We had to try multiple ones before finding the right one. Get a few different ones in the ready to feed quart and see what works best and the one your child will drink.

I can’t find these elemental formulas in ready to feed. Were you able to get neocate in a ready to feed?

We used Elecare after going through every thing else, finally Elecare is what worked. It is also a easier to find than the other ultra refined stuff, it is at Walmart - of course we wound up buying from mom groups to save money, as it is 40 something for each little can.

Bump. My baby has black poop that is positive for blood. She's been on these formulas since 4 weeks old, and now she is 4 months old and still the same poop. I am trying to figure out how worried to be.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Check out the GERDLings group on Facebook and search their posts/info. My babies both had occult blood in their stool and cycled through various formulas. They did not have gerd but many gerd babies are on the hydrolyzed formula so that’s why the group was a good resource. We had better luck with Alimentum ready to feed as it does not contain corn. Please work with your doctors before making any changes though!

My biggest advice is keep pushing and do not intro solids until baby is stable. We delayed til 7 mos then did only fruits and vegetables and meat til almost 1 year (except we did make sure to trial the allergens and incorporate them regularly). This helped the inflammation calm down prior to trying a bunch of new foods. Do NOT do rice cereal, oatmeal etc.

The formula is so expensive!
