Infertility Support and Discussion
|
Amy here. Just in the 2ww and going nuts. Needed an outlet and wondering if anyone wanted to commiserate.
My story: TTC 4 years. One year naturally, then went to SGFC. Did one year of IUI's. First one was a chemical pregnancy. (Initial beta was 11). Next (over the course of 2 years) did 3 failed cycles of IVF at SG. First cycle transferred 2 embies on day 3. BFN. 2nd IVF, tranferred 3 embies on day 3. BFN. Both times I had really poor response to stims. (6 eggs, and 5 eggs retrieved respectively on a truckload of meds.) 3rd IVF never made it to retrieval due to poor response and was converted to an IUI...That one I got a BFP with an initial beta of 40 and went down from there (chemical preg. #2) Decided to move clinics. Went to Dominion for a second opinion. Doctor there felt that even though all of my tests looked normal, I have low ovarian reserve. Tried IVF #4 on maximum (read: >$6000 worth of) meds. Never made it to retrieval due to poor response (less than 4 follicles and estrogen levels dropping). Doctor suggested donor eggs or adoption. Decided to go back to SG b/c they offered a shared risk donor option...but I have positive things to say about both clinics. We chose to do the 2:1 donor program so we share eggs with another recipient. We chose a repeat donor and she did great. 30 eggs retrieved, we got half, 10 were mature and all 10 fertilized. We chose a single blastocyst transfer on day 5 (and had 3 to freeze). My day 5 transfer was on Jan. 26th and my beta isn't until Feb. 9th! Too long. I am spotting on and off, but am trying not to get myself too worked up. My nurse says b/t the progesterone oil and the estrogen shots, spotting is quite common. So now, to POAS or not to POAS? Not sure what I'm going to do and when. Please feel free share any stories/history. Wishing everyone the best. |
| I too am in the 2ww. M/c in December. Will be 14 days past ovulation on Feb. 9. Have decided not to POAS before then bc with m/c I tested too early, thought it was negative, then got a positive, and then with the m/c, it was just too hard emotionally. |
| I don't have a story to share, but I wanted you two to know that I'm thinking of you and wishing you happy healthy pregnancies. |
| Same as PP. Hope you both get great news. |
2nd poster here. Thanks for the good wishes. This is by far the nicest forum on DCUM

Ttc after m/c in October. Period due Friday. OP, I don't have it nearly as bad as you, I already have a dd.
Will start testing tomorrow. |
| I'm technically in the 2WW, but given that my chances are about 2% it is laughable. I've been TTC #2 for just about 2 years. My best IVF I had 3 follicles and 1 egg retrieved - and you thought you were a poor responder! Best of luck to you, OP. |
I feel for you, PP. It only takes one egg -I hope this is your time. signed, another very poor responder |
| Amy here. Thanks for all of your well wishes. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you others. That's right...it only takes one good one!! |

OP...May I ask how old you are (that you need to use donor eggs)? Its a big fear of mine that my RE will tell me the same thing (that I have diminished ovarian reserve)
I'm pulling for you and hope everything turns out as you would like! |
| Amy here...I will be 37 in April. I started TTC at 33, however...again, all my day 3 labs are normal (to this day)...nothing indicating low ovarian reserve on tests...they just have made that determination based on my repeated poor response to the stim meds. |
| I guess I am in the 2ww. Conceived first child via IUI 3 years ago. Decided to go for #2 and had sex on CD#13. No idea if I was ovulating - I was heading out of town for a week so decided it was better than nothing. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was first trying. My cycles tend to be on the very long side and sometimes I even skip ovulation so the odds that this "took" are basically nil. But I have a glimmer of hope since I have been feeling nausea all week. But I have also been bitchy so that is a sign of PMS. Getting my insurance stuff worked out before I make an appt with an RE. Really hope I don't have to go through that again. Both my husband and I will be travelling extensively for the next several months so that is adding a huge level of anxiety. I am early 40's so clock is tickking and maybe even stopped. Hoping an earlier thread holds true about women with PCOs being able to conceive when they are older. |
| wishing you all the best of luck this month! |

I'm also in the 2WW. I conceived DS with an IUI two years ago - I have borderline high FSH, but luckily the IUI worked on the first try.
I haven't yet gone back to an RE yet. This is our 3rd month of TTC #2, and if it doesn't work, I'll be headed back to the dr. Sigh. Here's to good luck to all of us! |
| Trying naturally here and also in the 2WW period. I use an online calculator to determine my fertility period and then I test with strips. I got my surge yesterday just as predicted so we definitely timed it right. Now, the long wait... Good luck OP! |
