Pictures of kids in school from around the world

Amazing how different countries have figured out how to have in-person school.

Too bad MCPS couldn’t figure out a better way to educate our children.

Ummm did you see the first photo? Is that really what you want for your kid?
I want my kid back in school too, but not like that.

Yes, it’s MCPS’s fault that there has been no national plan to control Covid outbreaks. Shame on our school district for not taking charge of the pandemic response the way other countries do.

So somehow kids in Haiti have shields, and here we can't get most of the adults to wear masks?

Just showed these two my 8yo—she was interested to see them (she’s not an anxious kid, though) and I think it helps kids no what they might expect whenever they go back in person.

Seriously. The blame belongs with the federal government first and foremost. I don’t understand why people do not grasp this.

Whoops to, not two.

The amount of energy invested in envy in this forum is staggering.

My work pertains to a country that will be going back to school on 1 September.

The other day, there was a cluster of community spread in one town. They not only closed down the town, but they forced everyone in the town to remain there for two weeks.

We can't even get a broad swathe of Americans to wear masks, let alone take that kind of measure.

How are you blaming MCPS? Our government has had a horrible response to this. Calling it a hoax, using it to divide the country. We did not lock down, not really. There was no government plan to get the schools open again. Not one country opened their schools with their numbers as high as ours. 54,443 new cases just yesterday! Yet several states have opened their schools in completely unsafe conditions. If getting the schools open was so important the US should have acted like it.

Also, did you look at those pictures? The first one in Bangkok? That is not what I want for my children.

Dammit MCPS, be more like Angela Merkel or Jacinda Ardern! Use your public health agencies to ramp up testing, use your sovereign borrowing power to bail out restaurants and bars, and tell everyone to stay home until the number of cases is low.

Key word in your post is "countries". Not small localities. Whole countries made diffficult decisions to our kids and parents first which also helps their economy in the long run. And they had a cohesive and fast federal response and not the US patchwork of rules that aren't even followed most of the time. MCPS and other school systems do not exist in a vacuum and are not responsible for mitigating the risks that the rest of the country ignores.

We need pictures of easily accessible testing with quick turnaround to accompany this article, as I'm sure it is what makes school opening possible in those countries.

Can’t even follow mitigation efforts at Chili’s. Must attack employee for doing her job.

“My general manager and my other managers tell us we cannot sit a table bigger than six because of the corona[virus]. We are not supposed to separate them,” said Wallace.
