Outdoor dining with kids?

Are you eating out at restaurants with your kids? We have not and I feel like we are the only ones still eating every meal at home (although we do get take out once a week).

My kids are 6 and 2 and I mostly worry about the younger one who touches everything, but then again it’s unlikely to get Covid from surfaces it seems.

Just curious what others are doing.

We are not going out to restaurants. My children are 5 and 7.

Nope, all meals at home.

Absolutely not. We get takeout - it's either delivered or one adult runs in to get the bag.

Nope.

No way.

Nope. All meals at home, take-out once a week. If we want to "go out" we pack a picnic and eat at a park.

Eating at a restaurant sounds appealing until you think about what it would actually be like -- stress about whether you are exposing the servers, stress about the behavior of other patrons, stress about wearing a mask when you aren't eating or drinking, stress about keeping your kids' masks on when they aren't eating or drinking, stress about using a public restroom during a pandemic, stress about taking a child to a public restroom during a pandemic.

So much for a relaxing change of pace. It's not worth it.

We haven't eaten out since March. We even went out of town for a long weekend (not a crowded area) and brought most food from home, except for a couple of takeout meals.

I would've considered eating outdoors at a restaurant if its was not busy, but spouse is a frontline worker and didn't want to risk it.

Plenty of takeout but we eat it at home.

We've done McDonalds, dine in. We were in an area with low infection rates, and they had good protocols in place like every other table only, and the tables had a mark to indicate if they had been cleaned since the last guest. Hand sanitizer stations all over the place.

We are! Only sitting outside, wiping everything down before. So far so good.

Yes but just outside. DC is 5 but good in a restaurant setting because pre-Covid we ate out regularly.

Restaurants in DC that offer outdoor dining doing a good job spacing tables apart. Transmission from surfaces is low and not how people are getting it. Plus with sun and heat, good possibility of decreasing viability of the virus.

We have not had any issues. We are fine with social distancing outside. But it’s a family’s personal decision if they are comfortable doing it or not.

My DCs are 11 and 14... no way would the convenience of eating out counterbalance the risk for us. Our eating out is a picnic.
