| I have just been wiping baby down with water and a cloth. We haven’t tried a sink bath yet.... just lost the umbilical cord last week. How often *should* we be bathing baby?? |
|
I bathe my 3mo every 3-4 days or so. Wipe down daily with a washcloth in between.
I did the same with my older DD. |
|
With my first we did it maybe twice a week, with soap until she was about three months then we did soapy bath every night.
After reading so much more about the microbiome I'm a lot more reticent with my second, he's been getting a bath once a week with water only unless he's really stinky. Now that's he's about three months I'm doing it every night as part of a bedtime routine but again water only. Soap maybe once a week as needed. No lotion. |
| I have a 3 week old and have given 3 baths since we got home from the hospital so every 4-5 days I guess? |
| Daily |
| I never bathed my newborn. Sponge baths only. |
Do not do this you will dry their skin out |
| I bathed my newborn once a week initially then two times a week. |
| About once a week until about 3 months when it became part of bedtime routine (but even then with not much soap every time) |
| I bathed mine once a week or two until they started solids. Then all bets are off. During the two months I wiped them down with a wet cloth occasionally but didn't use soap. |
| Once per week. |
| Once a week. |
Agree. Or give them eczema. I bathed mine occasionally. Washed diaper area more often and face if she had milk drip from the bottle. Always very mild cleanser for any frequent cleaning. |
| It depends on the baby but err on the side of less. Newborn skin goes through a lot of adjustment in those first few months and you don't want to irritate it. Plus, bathing a newborn in a sink or infant bath is stressful. It gets easier when they can consistently hold their heads up and will lie back in the infant bath seat comfortably. But even then, I'd go with once a week (with exceptions for times when they really need it -- diaper blowouts, beach days, etc.). |
| Every other day. Warm wet washcloth with Aveeno baby wash on face, hands and privates/bottom on non-bath days. |
