Pregnancy and parenting (in DC) is all about figuring out how to wait.

Waiting to do a HPT, waiting for test results once pregnant, waiting for acceptances to playgroups, preschool, lottery for public school or private school.

I would recommend that you develop a method that works doe you now - if not you are going to go nuts.

Not all of us in DC are crazy enough to wait around for our kid to be "accepted" into a playgroup or preschool!

There is one brand of pregnancy test that claims to detect pregnancy a few days before missed period, but for the most accuracy, you want to test a couple days after your period was due. if you can't wait - go ahead and check, you might be surprised, but you will probably need to check again same time next week.
