Best way to debug organic broccoli?

I’ve been washing and washing and washing this broccoli and it’s still full of bugs. I tried swishing like you wash leeks, soaking in salt water for a few minutes, dunking and swishing, scrubbing with my palms, spinning in the salad spinner. And then I picked up a couple florets and they are still full of bugs.

How do you get all the bugs out.

soak

I’ve done a couple soaks in water and salt water. Do I have to cut the broccoli into tiny pieces? They are in “1-2 Bites” sized florets now.

I'm sorry, but this is why I can't do CSAs. I realize it's wasteful, but I can't.

If it is buggy I wouldn’t eat it. I’ve grow broccoli and had it from CSA, and I’ve never had a head with more than a random bug or spider on it. Bug infested is not okay. Though it won’t hurt you if you just want to boil and eat the little suckers...

The broccoli is from Whole Foods. Ugh I know they will not hurt me but I cannot bring myself to eat them after seeing so many bugs. I’m doing a vinegar/salt soak now and will probably boil after to get as many additional bugs out as I can.

Toss it. I've never gotten a head with many bugs. Something is off with that one.

I have never seen such a thing, from a CSA, Whole Foods, my garden, or otherwise.

Burn it. Not worth having the bugs in your house.

Never experienced that. I would never be able to trust eating it.

I've bought produce from Whole Foods, including much broccoli, for more than a decade and have NEVER had a bug infestation in anything. I sometimes get a few tiny bugs in lettuce, once found a huge caterpillar in their frozen whole spinach bag, and once found live wriggling tiny worms in fresh, never-frozen, salmon I had just baked (I posted about that episode on DCUM a few years ago - still traumatized).

I would ask for a refund. It's very easy to get a refund when you get Whole Foods deliveries via Amazon.

Absolutely ask for a refund, you don’t even have to return the product if you bought at a store. I would throw it in a bag and freeze it until trash day

I've occasionally had this OP and its a losing battle. I did all the salt soak emersion and still covered in tiny black bugs. I hate being wasteful but yuckkkkkk
