Buying a certified pre-used. Dealership mentioned adding an electronics/computer systems warranty. Is it worth it? It's a Subaru Outback, by the way. Three years old, 3.6 Touring if that makes a difference.
All advice appreciated! |
| I wouldn't. What does it cover and how much? |
| Sounds like a scam. |
| I mean I don't think it is a "scam" who I the warranty through? is it through Subaru or a 3rd party? We recently bought a new Subaru and it comes with the 3 year 36,000 miles bumper to bumper and we bought an extended warranty through Subaru to take that full bumper to bumper level for 8 years 120K miles. We were able to negotiate the crap out of it and it cost us less than 2K and give me peace of mind with all the new computer systems in the new car and touch screens etc. so I feel like you need more info. |
| OP here. It's a certified pre-owned Subaru (certified by Subaru itself). Comes with the remainder of its 100k/7 year warranty, and there's plenty of it left. This electronics/computer system is something different. I suspect it's just a salesman add on. |

Profit-making scam.
Just tell them: I thought Subaru makes great cars. Why are you trying to sell me something which implies it's going to break a lot? Bought a Toyota and they tried to sell me some kind of rust proofing otherwise it would rust out after a few year. I pointed out surely Toyota doesn't make such crappy vehicles that that would happen! |
