After bad experience, looking for suggestions

Anonymous
I had an incredibly frustrating time with a woman at Shady Grove, who at first told me they would accept my embryo (my fertilized egg) transfered from another facility. Then didn't respond to me for several months before saying that they didn't. I spoke with someone at Inova who was helpful, but it is a bit far as I am based in DC and don't like to get around by metro. I do like that they seem to be a small operation and I won't be treated as a number, but I don't know if that is always good. But I will go there if they are the best. Does anyone here have suggestions? Inova? Dominion? GW? Columbia? Your insights are appreciated.

I am most comfortable with Sibley hospital, but I think that matters little in the IVF process.

I don’t think GW will do it. I would start with CFA since you don’t want to travel too much.

We transferred both eggs and an embryo to CCRM NoVa (from Shady Grove).

They were fine with taking an embryo from another clinic, although I'm not sure if it made a difference which clinic it was coming from. All of these clinics are all about their stats, so they're likely more favorable to taking embryos from well-respected clinics.

Columbia Fertility Associates CFA is in DC, I would try there.

Sorry to hear about Shady Grove but I've been with the for a year and they suck, but only clinic in network with Kaiser. I called CCRM and read a bunch here about how they make you redo every test ever done and charge a fortune, and I've heard good things about Columbia fertility but their staff (especially billing is awful).
What practice in INOVA does IVF?

We're in Fredericksburg and started with Shady Grove because they are the only one in the area, but every interaction has been awful. My follow up consult to go over test results was less than 10 minutes and the doctor seemed annoyed. I'm completely self pay for everything so you would think they would try a bit harder to at least answer questions.

Just adding on that there is a lot of metered parking on M street right in front of the CFA building (also a garage but that’s expensive). The next street down has meters on both sides. In six months of going I think once we had to park more than a block away. When we were deciding on an OB, parking was the tie breaker!
